Ugly Betty - Deported

Anyone else think that Ugly Betty's dad will be written off the show this year? They played the deportation quite well in season 1 and I never understood his role in the show last year. He was always cooking - that's it.
Season 2 of Ugly Betty should be good! It is just one of those feel good shows.
